My name is Dylan Lucas Gordon, I am a Photographer. Currently I am studying Visual Journalism at Brooks Institute of Photography in Ventura, California. Creating is my love and passion. I’m driven by something given to me by my father that I cannot manage to articulate; My mind is constantly driven by new concepts, ideas and visions of what I can create, achieve and do. I work to spend my life exploring and experiencing everything this life can give me, everywhere and anywhere I can. Meeting and telling the stories of the people that fill my life. Family and Friends are everything to me, without them I would likely be a shadow of the person I am today.

Living life behind the lense is my muse. I’m forever infatuated by where my camera will take me and the things I will capture with the flip of a shutter. “Love the life you live, Live the life you love.”

{Why and when did you become a photographer?}

I started taking pictures from an early age, using my parents Canon 35mm and DSLR’s when I could until I was able to afford my first DSLR and then it was all downhill. I took a few classes in darkroom developing as well as some digital tech classes and fell in love with the medium. Being able to capture a moment of time and freeze emotions of a time, place or person fascinated me. In late 2009 I was tired of wasting my time going through the motions of general education classes at my community college and decided that I wanted to fully commit my life to photography and applied to Brooks Institute of Photography. I started at Brooks in January of 2010 and have loved every second of it.

{What is your most difficult challenge in the business?}

Most commonly, my most difficult challenges are getting as much exposure to my work as possible and having it seen by the right people as well as within the industry, working past being seen as a student instead of as a working professional as my work should be judged. I find that I am very limited in the access I am granted and the jobs offered due to it. I have to work on an very case to case basis to have my work viewed away from being viewed as a student.

{Where would you like to see your talents take you?}

One of the reasons I got into photography was because I saw photography as an opportunity to travel the world and explore new places and meet exciting people. In my future i expect to do just that, i want to travel, photograph and experience the world as much as I possibly can while pursuing the things I love.

{Who or what is your biggest source of inspiration?}

My family is a huge inspiration in my life. I have a drive that was given to me by my father to live life passionately as I possibly can and constantly push myself to keep exploring and doing what I love. My mother has also showed me to never stop pushing and always find a way to succeed, no matter how hard the times. The way my parents lived their lives is a constant reminder that unless I am continuously trying to live my life life to the fullest, I am wasting my time.
