Tell us about you and your business?
I started Simply Sublime Wedding Pictures this year and I am really excited about the future. I started my career as a wedding photographer in 2002 and I have since branched out to include kids photography (Sublime Photo Art) and boudoir photography (Sublime Boudoir). But, I have to say that weddings will always be my first love. There is nothing like the energy at a wedding; the excitement, intense emotions, and love all wrapped into one fantastic day. Its so rewarding to document such an intimate event.
How would you describe your style of Photography?
For weddings, I am a true photojournalist. I observe and capture as much of the day as I can as quietly and unobtrusively as I can. I do, however, think that there is a little bit of a fine art spin on my work. I am drawn to classic, timeless imagery.
How many Photo shoots a year do you do?
I have done around 75 sessions including portraits, weddings, and boudoir photo shoots in the last year.
Where would be your perfect Holiday destination?
Paris, without a doubt, then a little sojourn to the Amalfi Coast. One of these days…..
Why did you decide to become a Photographer?
Photography has an element of instant gratification. I love that I can see my finished product so quickly. The sculptor or the painter has to wait, but I can see my image on the back of my camera right away. I love that!
In college, my photography professor told me that I had a spark. But it wasn’t until years later, that I decided to follow my passion and make a career out of it. I know its cliche, but I feel very lucky to do what I love.
Which Camera do you use most?
I love my Canon 1DMkii. It’s been my trusted companion for many shoots!
What is your favorite Movie?
If you haven’t guessed by now, I am a true romantic at heart. I love Sense and Sensibility and The Notebook.
How would you like your Photography to evolve in the next 5 years?
I like the edgier, fashion or editiorial-inspired work that is becoming a trend in the wedding photography world. I hope to head in that direction.
Which one of your Photo’s do you consider to be your best?
I am in love with this image right now. It was taken awhile ago, but I came across it recently and fell in love with it. I love how her blue eyes pop against the white car and dress.
