The best ways to get your website recognized is to put a chunk of key words on your splash page (which is HTML, which search engines love). Write it in a paragraph format talking about your business and mention all the specific things people trying to find you would search for (city names in your area are great), as well as all the variations of photography, photographer, etc.
Next, log into your CMS and go into the Website Settings area, then click on the SEO menu. Fill out the SEO information for each page.

Another thing to do is to post lots of fresh content on your blog all the time.

Text is better for SEO, but photos are good to attract people to stay and look at stuff. So a balance of the two are good. Fresh content makes your website go up in the google ranks.

Lastly, having links to & from your website makes it look bigger & more popular search engines will rank it higher. So, trading links with other people in your industry (hair & make-up people, venues, friends, whatever) is a great way to get a better ranking as well.
